DR Harris was founded in 1790 on St James street in London. Thus making it one of the oldest pharmacy’s in the UK and they have been operating in the area ever since. They started by producing Lavender water, classic cologne and English flower perfumes. This range has been developed and refined over the last 200 years. It now includes a fine selection of soaps, shaving creams and soaps, aftershaves and colognes, skincare products. All of which appeal to all those who appreciate quality and distinction the world over.
Environmental credentials
DR Harris work hard on minimising the impact they have on the environment. They no longer use cellophane to seal packets and most of the materials used are recyclable. Glass bottles can be re-used and wooden bowls can be re-filled. They source as many products as possible from the UK. This cuts down on delivery miles and supports British business. Most of the packaging is made here in the UK.
Since June 2018 DR Harris have been working with partners Eden Reforestation Projects. Working with them they now plant a tree for every sale made online and in-store. For every trade order 5 trees are planted.
Animal hair and animal product policy
The DR Harris range uses as few animal-derived products as possible. When they do, they make sure they are as sustainably and responsibly sourced as possible. For example, the badger hair used in their shaving brushes is from sustainable farms in China. This is a by-product of the farming industry.
Palm Oil
DR Harris try to limit the amount of Palm Oil used in their products. But it is not easy to produce certain products without replacing the Palm Oil with potentially harmful chemicals. Any Palm Oil used comes from RSPO-certified sources.
Here at The Groomed Man we have been selling a range of DR Harris products since we started trading in 2011. Our best-selling product line is the DR Harris shaving soaps in either beech wood or mahogany effect bowls. Along with the soap refill. These luxury shaving soaps come in a range of fragrances. The best selling is DR Harris signature scent Arlington – a subtle blend of citrus and fern.
